Christmas Season ended yesterday and our tree died a terrible dry death days before that. I suppose this is the result of getting the tree right when Advent begins and expecting it to live long and prosper through the Christmas Season (yes I did recently watch the new Star Trek...). Poor tree.
Watching us take it out the back door is much like watching a circus act. Only we never mean it to be that way. This time it was him saying it fits...me saying it won't...the tree fitting but then getting stuck...and round and round. It finally made it out the back door. Poor, poor tree. I'm sure we looked like clowns trying to fit a tree into a clown car.
Normally this would be the day that all of our decorations come down and all of my Valentine's Day stuff gets pulled out. However, we have a belated Epiphany party for my husband's office. They will all be here for a "Christmas party" next weekend so the decorations have to stay up. It feels a little wrong. I know that's strange. I mean, no one really knows but us and no one cares...but somewhere in me is this urge to strip the house of its lovely Christmas decor in order to keep with the Church's beginning of Ordinary Time. So this is a silly little sacrifice for me.
Happy late Epiphany and Beginning of Ordinary Time! Blessings!
Seeking to lead our children to sainthood and hoping to learn my own way there from these little roses.

Pictures from Thanksgiving and the Christmas Season
This is really just a shameless montage of pictures. I'm having a lazy week since we're recovering from our trip to visit family for Christmas and New Year. I'm hopeful that I'll be back in the groove of things next week. We did school every day but Sunday for all of Advent so Christmas Season is our our break! Things will start up with the letter N this coming Monday.
I never remembered to post Thanksgiving pictures! We celebrated little man's birthday over Thanksgiving too.
Here are some of bedtime books with Nana Sherri
This picture is of little man playing with the big gift this Christmas. He loves the train table and has a hard time understanding that they share the train. He'll learn soon!
This is the kids opening the gift containing my mom's baby Jesus for her nativity. I think this will be a fun tradition for the next time we get down for Christmas. We put our Baby Jesus in the "Christmas Box" which I'll try and blog about that next.
Little man loved this box! Such fun! Who needs expensive toys when there's a box lying around!
Silly Uncle Eric! I love this picture! Notice the candy cane. They had never had candy canes before this Christmas!
Here they are playing with their cousin Dyer. Little man was so excited to play with someone who had his energy and enthusiasm for wrestling!
This is my girl snuggling with daddy while watching Snow White. She had never seen it before and, after getting it this Christmas, watched it while visiting at Nana and Jaja's house. Note the new jammies! Both of my kids love getting new jammies! I've had to wash them constantly!!! :)
This one is funny too! My brother makes the best faces. This is his girlfriend Krissy. We love her! She's a great drummer to have when playing Band Hero...which is what they are doing here.
There was plenty of cooking and baking this Christmas! Here they are making GF cookies with Nana for the umpteenth time. I made them 3 times during Advent and then they made them with Nana again the day after Christmas Day.
This is New Year's Day. We tried to keep our girl up but she conked out at around 10pm New Year's Eve. We gave them their Christmas box candy and their New Year hats and that seemed to make the 1st of the year special enough! :)
Making dinner with Nana. An old family favorite. Shrimp over rice. This meal always makes me miss my Grandma Elizabeth as she made it for me whenever I would visit.
Here's my grandma and mom...we wore grandma out every time she visited!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!! On the last day of the Christmas Season I'll be celebrating my 6th Wedding Anniversary! Hard to believe Christmas is nearly over and the 6th year of my marriage is about to begin. Life is blessed.
Christmas Blessings!
